Chris Corey has been building & remodeling residential homes since 1981. After working summers for his fathers roofing company and graduating from a technical high school in New England, he began as a carpenters apprentice, working on vintage homes on Cape Cod and building several homes completely by hand, from clearing the trees on the lot, to pouring the foundation and hand building the stairs & cabinets. All hand nails, no air guns. An old school way of building experience that's long gone. He started his first company at 24 and moved to South Carolina following Hurricane Hugo and worked on many of the historic properties in and around Charleston. Chris moved to Bucks County Pennsylvania in 1992, starting in a cabinet shop, then changing employers taking on more managerial rolls. He became a supervisor & project manager for a large custom home builder on the main line of Philadelphia, managing homes over 10,000sf. In 2003 he became Senior Project Manager for another main line company, overseeing the construction of a 30,000sf home in Gladwyne, PA. A massive project, built in under 18months, which culminated in the working with and assisting the secret service during a visit to the home from The President of The United States in 2005.
Shortly after the completion of this large home, Chris struck out on his own and started Corey-Built. Chris managed and built several large projects in the years that followed. However the enjoyment of working on smaller projects was always a draw. Also working on vintage homes of which there are many in Pennsylvania has always been a passion. Chris began designing projects, calling on his extensive background, having seen thousands of square feet of home design from some of the countries best architects and designers. Chris does 3d modeling, rendering and hand colored sketching to bring his ideas to the client. Design is solidified and the final planset created in collaboration with licensed architects & engineers, to which the clients vision will become reality.
Today, Chris is enjoying a less stressful pace with construction, taking on projects that he finds enjoyable and challenging. His deep knowledge of construction, estimated to include over 250,000sf of construction over the past 40 years, is applied to all aspects of the process; from design to build, color to material selection. In addition, he offers his services as an Owner's Representative for construction by others, as a project coach for DIY'ers and mentor to upcoming carpenters and future contractors.
